Teaching Assistants
Shi(Brandon) Bu him/his
Hi, everyone! My name is Brandon and I am a first-year Master’s student in Computer Science, specializing in Machine Learning. I previously interned as a Software Engineer at HUAWEI. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music and cooking.
I am excited to be working with you all and look forward to helping you succeed in this course. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
Iris Moini she/they
Hi everyone! My name is Iris and I’m a B.S/M.S. student in computer science. I’m very excited to be tutoring for CS 16 this quarter. When I first took CS 8, I was a math major trying to fulfill a pre-major requirement and had no prior programming experience. Initially, I found myself lost and confused in this strange world of programming, but the incredible support I received from my TAs, tutors, and the professor really helped me out and inspired me to continue taking CS courses. I eventually changed my major and developed a passion for helping others learn how to code. As a former ULA (CS 8, CS 16, CS 24, CS 130A) and current TA, I love contributing to creating a supportive and encouraging environment for my peers! I believe that anyone can achieve their dreams given the right support. I hope to answer any questions you all might have, but also show you all that you are capable of coding regardless of prior experience!
In my spare time I enjoy admiring art, listening to music, weightlifting, and snowboarding. Don’t be afraid to come to me with any questions, concerns, or general thoughts. I’m here to help! :-)
Zeyu(Zoey) Wang she/her
Hi, everyone! I am a first-year master’s student in the CS department. My one-year work experience as a software development engineer has given me hands-on experience in developing and maintaining mobile applications.
I’m here to help you with any questions or concerns you may have regarding your coursework or the industries related to computer science. If you need assistance or guidance, don’t hesitate to contact me through Piazza or email. I’m looking forward to starting this incredible journey in coding with you all and supporting you along the way.
Rutvik Jha him/his

I previously interned as a Software Engineer at Amazon on Alexa AI and at NVIDIA on TensorRT. I also worked as an Undergraduate Researcher with Professor Beyeler in the Bionic Vision Lab here at UCSB. In my free time, I enjoy running, lifting, and playing guitar. I look forward to helping you all learn this quarter! Feel free to reach out if you’d like to discuss research, internships, C++ development, course related information, or anything else!
Undergraduate Learning Assistants
Liliana Nguyen she/her
Hi, I’m Liliana Nguyen! I’m a second-year CS major. A few fun facts about me is that I’m from SoCal, I have a twin sister, and I enjoy playing video games in my free time. Outside of my classes, I’m involved with WiCS (Women in Computer Science) and ERSP (Early Research Scholars Program). This is my second time being a ULA. I’m super excited to ULA for this course, so don’t hesitate to reach out!
Rachel Jiang she/her
Hi everyone! I’m Rachel, a sophomore at UCSB studying Computer Science and the co-Director of Instructions at UCSB’s Google Developers Student Club. I like photography, running, and traveling. I’m super excited to spend this quarter with you all. Please don’t hesitate to talk to me at all during section or OH, I’m more than excited to answer your questions or comments.
